DGZ Racing got in touch looking for a logo that would look good on the side of one of their racing cars flying past at 100mph.
Out of the key concepts of good logo design, I deemed legibility to be absolutely crucial to the success of the logo and concentrated on that aspect of the design first and foremost.
The fact that initials are used for the main part of the team's name (DGZ) really lent itself in this regard. Large, solid, completely custom made type was developed which suggested the feeling of speed and urgency, with italics and a negative strike-through or 'go-faster-stripe'. A suitable font was picked for the rest of the text and modified to match.
Lastly a slightly abstract checkered flag motif was created to finish off the look, with matching sets of curved and hard corners.
Gentlemen, start your engines!

"Thanks so much, Will. We've decided on option (3), there was a little debate between that version and (2c) but felt it had a cleaner look." - F. Maclennon
